Websites for Buddhism

Access to Insight

I mainly go here to look for the actual discourses of the Buddha. There are also come cool essays on specific themes / topics written by monks.

Teachings by Ajahn Thanissaro

I proper worship Ajahn Thanissaro. My teacher, Ajahn Hāsapañño, once described him as both well-practised and scholarly. I particularly enjoy listening to his "evening talks" for short but practical and powerful teachings. Strong emphasis on using 'skilful means' to develop in the practice.

Forest Sangha

I think this is the virtual motherland for all things related to the Ajahn Chah lineage. Info about branch monasteries available. Teachings also accessible here.

Monastery websites

Santi Forest Monastery

Ajahn Keng is the abbot of this monastery in Johor, Malaysia and he is hardcore. Some of his Dhamma talks are on here.

Amaravati

Official website for an Ajahn Chah branch monastery in the UK. Lots of great talks, e-books and other resources by the Western Sangha who have stayed there / visited.

Vimokkharam Forest Hermitage

The monastery I go to in Victoria.

Wat Buddha Dhamma

Epic monastery deep in Dharug National Park in NSW, outside of Sydney. Great for seclusion.

Wat Boonyawad

Venerable Tan Ajahn Dtun's monastery, Wat Boonyawad. Some of his talks are uploaded here.

Buddha Bodhivana Monastery

Located in Warburton, Victoria. Talks by Luang Por Kalyano, the abbot, are uploaded here.
This is the link to their Facebook page, where livestreams of chanting and meditation are on every night.

Stillness Flowing by Ajahn Jayasaro

Biography of Luang Por Chah, compiled by Ajahn Jayasaro. Have heard great things about this book - lots of anecdotes from LP Chah's life.

The Sound of Silence by Ajahn Sumedho

All my Dhamma friends know this is my personal favourite. The holy grail haha. An epic treatise on "intuitive awareness" or mindfulness. It has helped my practice tremendously.

This book is the fourth of Ajahn Sumedho's five-book anthology which can be found here.

Mae Chee Kaew by Bhikkhu Silaratano

Biography of female Arahant Mae Chee Kaew. Currently reading. Very epic. Especially inspiring for women practitioners.

Don't Push - Just Use the Weight of Your Own Body by Ajahn Amaro

Part of a collection of books on the Brahmaviharas (sublime abidings). This one is on compassion. Great, practical little read.

The rest of the series can be found on the Amaravati website as well.

Still, Flowing Water by Venerable Ajahn Chah

A classic. Great talks by Ajahn Chah translated into English by Ajahn Thanissaro.

The Things You See Only When You Slow Down by Haemin Sunim

Love for Imperfect Things by Haemin Sunim

No free e-book available that I know of for these last two. Very light, before-bed reads.

Yoga

Yoke Yoga

Beautiful yoga studio in South Melbourne. I practise yoga here irl, and I adore the teachers. (Personal favourites: Chris Wilson, Ashleigh Dickinson and Kate Henry).

I really resonate with the approach to yoga taken at Yoke - I see it as an opportunity to practise receptivity and kindness to the body and breath in a more dynamic way.

Lately because of COVID-19, they have been doing online (paid) classes, which can be found on the website.

Yoga with Adriene

I love Adriene!! I always recommend her vids to people who want home yoga resources. She goes with the motto "find what feels good" which I so loooove. It's all about listening to the body. Very good vibes, very chill, very gentle. I particularly like her "True" 30-day series. I think she's great for beginners to yoga.
